Music Video Ideas
Idea 1: Stargazing- Travis Scott
|
I chose Stargazing by Travis Scott as one of my song options for my unit 29 Music Video. The song fits with the theme of hip hop/rap which I mentioned in my task 1, and is a song with 2 different parts, which will allow me to use more locations and edits to fit with the song. Despite the song being an ideal fit, there is no official music video for the song, which restricts the amount of inspiration I can gain from the song, however if I do choose to make a music video for this song, I will use my own original ideas and some ideas from other music videos the AstroWorld album, in which this song is a part of; as well as inspiration from the lyrics of the music video.

Idea 2: Missing- Belly Squad ft. Headie One
|
I chose Missing by Belly Squad and Headie One, as it is a song part of the grime daily label. UK Grime is a perfect mix of hip hop, pop and rap, which would fit well with my ideal music video theme. The song is mostly clean, and location would be very simple to choose with this song, as it would be mainly shot in one location. There are good beats in this song, which i think could be used to my advantage when it comes to editing, such as on beat cuts.

Idea 3: Location- Santan Dave ft. Burna Boy
|
Location by Santan Dave, featuring Burna Boy is one of my possible options for my music video. I chose this song as it fits with many available locations in Oman that I could use for the music video. In addition, the song features some singing and rapping parts, which is a good balance between rap and pop. I like the lyrics of the song and could use them to my advantage for inspiration as to how to film the music video, and the shots in the original music video emulate those I would like to use for my own music video, such as the candid shots, close up shots and the slow motion used- I also like the non diagetic sound of the crowd, which I may use in my music video.

|
I have chosen 'Location' to be my final song choice for my music video, as it is the song that gives me the most inspiration, and appeals to me the most. I will be using the clean radio edit version of the song for my music video, however will be using the original music video for inspiration in terms of shots angles and possible locations for my music video.

Equipment:
For filming, I am using my phone, which is the iPhone 11. I chose to use my phone as it is the most convenient for me. There is a large amount of storage, which allows me to film without the use of an SD card, and is convenient as I will also edit my video on my phone. In terms of the camera, I believe that the camera quality on the iPhone 11 is of high quality and adequate for filming a music video. The iPhone 11's cameras get an excellent new Night Mode and an ultrawide-angle camera that can add extra detail in photos and videos, which allows me to film in different lighting without altering the quality of the visuals, and to have different angles, such as wide shots and closeups with detail and precision. In addition, my phone is light and handy, which diminishes the possibility of damage.

Editing:
iMovie is an app originally on the iPhone and all apple products in general. I will be using this video editing app for my music video. It is simple and easy to use, and convenient as i will be able to edit on the go and even on the scene, at is an offline app already on my phone.

|
PicsArt is a photo and video editing app that i have downloaded on my phone. I used this app to add effects such as glitches and grain in my video, to establish a video cam effect in candid scenes.

I used the app "Vont" to add text to my video. I used this for the beginning of the video, to introduce the artists and the title of the song. I liked using this app, as it had numerous font choices and colour choices, and i was able to edit the opacity which i found useful.

VHS Cam is the app i used to establish a VHS camcorder edit on my videos. I liked this edit in the original music video and used it in some narrative scenes, where the actors weren't lip-syncing.
