Codes and conventions of a fashion magazine:
Masthead - the title of a newspaper or magazine at the head of the first or editorial page. Usually bold and stands out, the first thing the audience sees.
The cover image - The picture on the front cover, usually a model in fashion magazines.
Mode of address - How the magazine involves the audience- eg. direct mode of address is shown when the model looks directly at the audience, or the writing speaks to 'you'.
House style - Set of rules to ensure the magazine fits with the same aesthetic ad conventions all the time, eg. font style, colour scheme, font size etc.
Skyline - Any additional text on the magazine, usually placed near the masthead, to catch the readers eye and promote the magazine. eg. "new summer fashion styles!"
Bar code - The bar code is necessary for print magazines, to tell the reader/buyer the price of the magazine.
Price - The price tells the reader/buyer how much the magazine is. Fashion magazines are usually seen as a more respectable and legitimate magazine category, in comparison with gossip magazines for example, an therefore are usually more expensive, also due to the larger expense of making the magazine, as more expensive equipment is used, models and celebrities need to be paid, and the higher demand, making it more expensive to circulate.
